Global shipments of mobile phone OLED panels are expected to reach 480 million in 2020, down 1 per cent from 2019 and 6 per cent lower than previously forecast, according to Runto's article "Market Survey agencies downgrade shipments of OLED TVs and mobile phones in 2020" published on June 30. Although OLED panel shipments are expected to be affected by the epidemic, the upward momentum of the overall OLED market continues.
Apple, the giant of the smartphone market, is gradually changing the display of the iPhone from LCD to OLED. About 25 per cent of iPhone uses OLED, in 2019 but is expected to expand to 50 per cent this year and 75 per cent in 2021. As a result, flexible OLED exclusively supplied by Samsung display to Apple has also been supplied by LG display since last year, and BOE is expected to be designated as the supplier of Apple next year.
