VA - Stands for Vertical Alignment. It's often considered the middle child of the group between TN panels and IPS displays. Like Twisted Nematic panels, Vertical Alignment panels use liquid crystals and electrical current to tilt polarized glass but have a slightly altered manufacturing process.
